Beginning in May and running through November each year, the Foundation hosts, co-hosts, or sponsors many events where we raise funds not only for our goals, but for many of our partner organizations in the community. Our EG29 events are professionally planned and executed; and are designed to be engaging, entertaining, and sure fire fun for the entire family!

Our goal is to never have our donor base ‘feel like’ they are at a fundraiser; but to provide a tangible expe-rience, and allow them the transparency to see exactly how their contributions are going to benefit the children of our community!

"Little League Night" with the Tacoma Rainiers

Coordinated each Spring with a local South Kitsap Little League group, this event brings together tens of thousands of Little Leaguers and their families for a baseball game at Cheney Stadium.

All South Kitsap area kids who play youth baseball, softball, or fastpitch are invited to participate in a pregame, on-field parade and meet their favorite Tacoma Rainier players; and the game is followed by a world class fireworks display for the entire family to enjoy!

Our 40% DISCOUNTED ticket prices include a reserved seat, game program, ballpark meal, and group recognition on the stadium and 100% of the proceeds go to benefit the ‘Elton Goodwin Fellowship Grant’. This grant annually provides $1,500 in scholarship funds to South Kitsap area Little League Associations to offset league fees and equipment costs for children of low income families.

In 2015 alone, this grant helped over 30 boys & girls in the South Kitsap community PLAY BALL!!

SKHS Summer Baseball Camps

Held each summer just after school releases, this 3 day baseball camp is taught by the title winning coaches of the South Kitsap High School baseball staff, and guests. A championship program born under Coach Elton Goodwin, and continued four decades later by Coach Marcus Logue and his dedicated staff, South Kitsap is widely recognized as one of the premier HS Baseball programs in Washington State; and these coaches are some of the best in the business at teaching the ‘fundamentals’ kids need to succeed at the next level, and beyond.

Moonlight Movies in the Park

Held once per month in June through September, this event brings together hundreds of families and com-munity members for an outdoor movie in a beautiful setting at Port Orchard’s Marina Park.

We are a Foundation supporting strong youth organizations, strong families, and strong community values; and we often use sports, (and baseball in particular) as a conduit by which to create and promote enriching messages for the children of our community. Each of the movies we show is carefully selected for not just it’s relationship to baseball, but to the life lessons it conveys, and the strong family bonds it helps to form.

The Foundation has partnered with FunFlicks™ to provide a state of the art 21’ outdoor projector screen and sound system to enjoy outdoor movies in theater quality….with FREE popcorn, and FREE parking!!

Fall Dinner & Auction

Held each November in honor of the anniversary of Coach Goodwin’s passing, this event brings together friends, family, and former players and coaches of several generations. Beginning in 2015, this event is graciously sponsored by our dear friends at The Suquamish Tribe and Port Madison Enterprises who provide an AYCE seafood extravaganza of Halibut, Salmon, Dungeness Crab, Oysters, and Clams; all prepared in traditional Native Suquamish fashion, by world class chef, and Suquamish Trib-al Elder Mike Cheney.*

Following dinner is a TOP-NOTCH silent, and live auction featuring some amazing donations from local businesses and ‘Friends of the Foundation’. Past auctions with our partners at the Kitsap Athletic Roundtable (Spring 2014) have included appearances by Seattle Mariner (and Elton Goodwin alum) Willie Bloomquist, U.S. Olympian Bobsledder Bree Schaaf; and have included items such as autographed memorabilia from these great stars, as well as All-Star Mariners Felix Hernandez and Robinson Cano.

*Note: A standout pitcher on Elton Goodwin’s 1977 SK Wolves team, Mike went on to become a 5 time National Champion & World Champion Softball player in the USSSA Majors Division; including MVP honors for the 1984 Suquamish team that won the National Indian Tournament. He was also honored again in 2014 with his second induction into the Suquamish Sports Hall of Fame. “Love Ya Mike!” - EG29

Touching Lives...

It was my good fortune to know and work with Elton for 40 years. He showed a love for those around him that made him truly standout. Whether it was his special needs students or his baseball players his conversations ended with "I love you man". A very hardworking person who embraced life to the fullest. Whether it was hunting ,fishing, wood cutting or coaching, he gave it his all.

The thing about coaching kids is that they have to like you before they'll play for you.
